I haven’t posted anything here in a great while. In fact, I have a draft of something from a couple months ago I never posted because I’ve been either too busy or worn out, and now I’m not sure if I can curate it right. On the contrary, I’ve got some fresher pictures from yet another walk around the Washington Park Loop in Anacortes this past week. Leaving relatively early in the morning has its rewards, as the wildlife seems more active. Oddly, despite not going out with the camera much lately, I seem to be getting used to leaving the somewhat hefty 200mm f/2.8 on my camera most of the time.

I would have done better to get out even earlier when the birds start singing all over just as the sun rises, but I still got out early enough the wildlife was moderately active and the loop road wasn’t too busy. The brisk morning air is its own reward, too!

One shot I am surprised I caught was this bird (presumably a sparrow) that darted right I front of me to catch an insect. It didn’t seem to notice me until a little while after it made the catch.

A few herons were out and about on the shores. I didn’t have luck getting usable shots of one that was actively fishing, but I still got a good shot otherwise.

There were other birds to see out here too, along with a rabbit.

The lighting was also conducive to plants in a few spots as well, and sometimes I just can’t pass up a sunstar effect.

Brilliant view of nature In it’s natural state. Your commentary always adds to the experience.
