Day Trip: Spring is in the Air

Today I went up and down the “long version” of Whatcom Falls: Parking at the Woburn parking lot and turning around at the northeast corner of Northridge Park. I go to Whatcom Falls so often it’s almost safe to say that’s where I am if I don’t say otherwise. To be honest, this trip idea came to me from a doctor’s appointment where I admitted I seem to have fallen too far out of shape to do this. Turns out I can still do it, but I was antsy to get back to the car on the way back (even though daylight wasn’t rushing me).

This route uses some streets to bridge between Scudder and Northridge (mainly Sylvan Street) as there is no direct path up Alabama Hill with trails. There is a small rock garden up Sylvan a little ways, and Big Rock Park’s main entrance is up this way as well.

Spring is in the air, but not in full swing. Ducklings are nowhere to be found yet, but plant buds are showing progress. I’ve also seen (but missed) robins, blackbirds, and a few bugs. The year-round residents are still here, too.

On the contrary, there are quite a few scenes that show winter is still here. At least I wasn’t chased out by the weather today!
